Good Advice


Hello!

Now and then do you stumble across a great article or piece of advice that you just want to share?  I do that aaalll the time!  I found this list and it's long, but it IS all good advice and I thought I'd share it with you.  Sorry I don't know who to attribute it to.    I need to work on #1 and I really like #3 and #10.  I've never understood #18.  It's not?  Why not?  :)  And, I completely believe #19 and #21. 

  1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant. 
  2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to. 
  3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to _________ today.' 
  4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, and almonds. 
  5. Try to make at least three people smile each day. 
  6. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment. 
  7. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a broke college kid. 
  8. Life isn't fair, but it's still good. 
  9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. 
  10. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 
  11. You don't have to win every argument. 
  12. Agree to disagree. 
  13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present. 
  14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 
  15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you. 
  16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words; 'in five years, will this matter?' 
  17. Forgive everyone for everything. 
  18. What other people think of you is none of your business. 
  19. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. 
  20. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick, your friends will. Stay in touch. 
  21. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. 
  22. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for _____. Today I accomplished _________. 
  23. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed. 

 Which # do you like or need to work on?

  1. I need to work on #1,2,3,7 and 10. The fear of looking stupid holds me back way too often. I like #16, #18, and #19 too.

    In my opinion #18 is similar to #10. If you make it your business to find out what other people think of you, good or bad, then you're wasting your time -and poisoning your view of yourself- in search of their approval or disapproval...I think? :)

I'm slowly making my way through the list at Vicki's Grow Your Blog party and I'm so glad I stopped by your blog. I love it and all the great ideas, those shrink plastic typewriter bookmarks are too cute... I could go on and on (I have been browsing around for a bit) :D

  4. Hmmm... I need to work on a few, but I sure do try to think about these things often in life. I plan on that walk thing this morning. In fact, I have started to go back to the Gym and that makes me feel good.
