It's awards season and I've watched some of the Hollywood Loves Hollywood shows and I haven't even known others were being televised. There are just so many! Anyway, I decided to give my own award this year to my Favorite Newly Discovered Craft Supply of 2012.
The award goes to . . . Glitter! I was late to the glitter party but I finally had my conversion in the fall. My delight with glitter continued through Christmas and I'm excited about anything I can do with glitter from here on out.
Here's what I used:
It was so simple. Once the label was peeled off after a quick soak in warm soapy water, the bottle was cleaned and dried. I diluted some Gloss Mod Podge--just enough to be able to easily brush it onto the glass. Then I shook a layer of pink glitter all over the glue and that's when I started having fun!
I let it dry just long enough to mostly clean the pink glitter out of my paint brush and then I put another layer of glue on and another layer of glitter. Still fun!
Finally, the last layer.
But I started to worry. I asked Leif, "Does this look tacky?" He said, "It looks like a glitter bomb."
Uhh . . . well, so be it.
I can't help it. I dig it! The light layer doesn't really look pink in this photo, but it is.
Did you have a favorite newly discovered craft supply in 2012 or already in 2013? I'd love to know what it is!

I joke that one sneeze at my craft table and It is like Tinkerbell threw up! My favorite find in the last year or so is WASHI tape! Use it on my ATC's, journals, as trim, it is so versatile!
ReplyDeleteOH! Glitter.
ReplyDeleteI love.
Glitter for the WIN!
So cute Shannon.
If it sparkles. I adore it. lol
So excited I get to do some glittery stuff for my nieces bridal shower.
I can not wait!
Love glitter of course...but I am still going crazy with chalkboard paint over here! Haha! I also really like the decorated duct tape but not sure how to really use it.
ReplyDeleteYour post made me smile. I hated glitter most of my years, and the love affair started about 3 years ago--still going strong. I would never have thought to paint the inside of a vase with Mod Podge to adhere glitter! Brilliant! I will be running to JoAnn's today!
