Life Lately

Hello!

One of the reasons I write this blog is to get to know other bloggers. I love reading about artists and crafters and their projects but I also lovelove getting to know people outside of what drives them on their blogs and in their businesses. That's one of the reasons I include Life Lately or Life is Good posts or the like. Hopefully you get to know me on a level beyond "ohmygosh--I pinned microwaved eggs and then microwaved my own", you know?

Yesterday we went skiing with friends. Well, I ski, Leif snowboards. This was a big deal because it was the first time we'd been in TWO years since my main squeeze of a husband broke his tailbone in Montana. We managed beautifully! The day couldn't have been better. I swear, every time I'm on the slopes I gush that "This was the best day skiing EVER!" and I did that again yesterday. Either I'm not too particular, or every day skiing is the best, or they truly do get better and better.
This is not my speed--never will be, but I love that Double Black Diamonds get other people going. More power to them!
This looks like Leif and I fell but we didn't. We just sat down and asked our friend Chris to take our picture.

Upstairs is my craft space and I usually do my 9-5 work downstairs where I can be near Leif when he's home and let the little Scotch dog out (and in-and out-and in again) but sometimes I find myself up in my artsy/craftsy space during the work day. The light is different and the vibe is different and I feel really at peace up there. I love having my packed happiness/inspiration boards around me when I work too.  These are some of the things in that space that I delighted in this week.
Finally, I joined Birchbox this year. Weird? For me, yes a little bit. I always think I need to work on the girly side of me because working remotely and not having to leave the house for work means I have to make a little more effort to look cute when I do get out. Not kidding! For some people it's a no-brainer. For me, not so much, so I decided to indulge a little and try new products and up the ante a little. I got my first box this week.
Silly? Kind of. Fun? Actually, yes. I got to try a facial scrub, a mud mask, and a dry shampoo. I also got chocolate (duh) and a perfume sample. This, along with a pedicure from the Mariah Carey and Katy Perry OPI collections last weekend . . . ? Girlfriends, I am making progress! How's life been for you lately?

  1. I could not see the photos... so I used my imagination :) But I made sure to read all the words. We skied when I was younger, but it's been forever. I mean, for-ever! Glad you had such fun. My sister does Birchbox. For being a Estee Lauder counter manager in a past life, you think I'd be into it... but, I got naked faced most days ;) She gets some fun stuff though. Enjoy your girly goodies!

  2. Looks like a lot of fun if you ask me and I don't ski. Bummer that your hubby broke his tail bone once...ouch, that must have hurt real bad.

  3. Sounds like a lovely way to spend the weekend--you both look so happy! I love snow, but coming from Tennessee, I never learned to ski. My husband is really good, but we haven't gone to the mountains lately. Our weather here in So Cal has been quite dry this winter. Hubby is a composer, and the blessing is that he is swamped with work right now--a movie, a game, and an Iphone project--but the bad thing is that he is holed-up in the studio, so I have been cleaning and crafting, when I'm not working. (How did all this laundry pile up???????) I'm very girly, love jewelry and makeup, but I usually don't wear it on the weekends. I recently bought some things from Sephora online--they have good specials and clearance items. Joined Weight Watchers for literally the ninth time since I was sixteen--lol--and I've lost 10 lbs! Exciting! I've got a design team project to finish for Oxford Impressions, cupcakes or a casserole to make for a retirement party at work tomorrow, and a really messy craft room to clean up. So that's my life lately! :-)

  4. You're so funny-the egg comment-but I know exactly what you mean I feel the same way sometimes. I'm trying to get my girly back this year too, might have to check out Birchbox for myself.
